“Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:25-31

Peter is long considered as someone who doubted, however undeniable is his decision. He is the only one who people still remember for his courage when others were flattened by fear. He made the best decision he could with the information available. He didn’t know there would be a variable along the way but at least he tried. So is life, others try and fail while others are hoping they did. The rest of the disciples will live to this lost opportunity to act. Although they received the same teaching, only Peter was able to put his faith into action. From someone who fails on the boat to denying Jesus, Peter ended up drawing valuable lessons that will soon allow him to stand during Pentecost, while others were still seated; he became one of the leaders of the new faith in Jesus Christ. If you're too afraid of burning the food, you'll never start cooking. Failures are part of success.

The power of decision is a right given to mankind by God to make the best out their lives. The decision to stand or run away from problems or issues is the demarcation between the hero and the coward. The Hero at times is simply the person who stands a little longer while others have given up. Decisions are necessary at every important milestone of our lives. While we are on earth, we have the right to choose between serving God or the devil. Jesus said: I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Make the right decision. Choose Jesus.
